Y6S1.3 DESIGNER'S NOTES

In this latest edition of Designer’s Notes, we’ll go into more detail about the balancing changes that’ll come with the Y6S1.3 patch and give you an insight into the reasons behind these changes.

BALANCING MATRIX AND TOP OPERATOR BANS
WIN DELTA VS. PRESENCE

Please note that we are using presence to gauge the popularity of an Operator. This notion had to be introduced to reflect the implementation of the pick & ban.

Presence definition: pick rate of an Operator when not banned. Win Delta: The Win Delta is aggregated from Operator’s Win Deltas per Bomb Site.

OPERATOR BAN RATE

OPERATOR BALANCING

ACE
  • Replaced Smoke Grenades with Claymore
  • The S.E.L.M.A. will destroy Black Mirror Window

Population targeted by this change: Casual, Top Ranked, Pro.

Looking at the Balancing Matrix, Ace has climbed higher in pick presence and win rate. Overall, we see him as a fast and versatile hard breacher, but he should not be the dominant pick for hard breachers in all situations. We’ve replaced his smoke grenades with a claymore, reducing his late game execution to give room for other breachers such as Thermite.

We are also changing how Ace’s gadget will work with Mira’s Black Mirror Window. Players already use Ace to counter Mira by opening a space beneath the mirror to deny defender access. Now, it can destroy the Black Mirror completely, adding more counterplay options for dealing with Mira.

JACKAL
  • Reduced C7E magazine capacity to 25+1 bullets (from 30+1)
  • Reduced C7E damage to 42 (from 46)

Population targeted by this change: Casual, Top Ranked, Pro.

Jackal is seen both a lot in matches and ban picks due to his overall strength and versatility. We’ve taken a look at the data for the C7E and found it a tad too strong. The change should bring Jackal in line with other operators, while not dramatically reducing his capability. Additionally, this should give more room for his PDW9 to be used, empowering players with the option to use either weapon depending on the map or strategy.

JÄGER
  • Reduced 416-C magazine capacity to 25+1 (was 30+1)
  • Increased 416-C weapon recoil vertical kick

Population targeted by this change: Top Ranked, Pro.

Jäger is a community favorite and we can understand why! While we all love Jäger and the utility he brings to team compositions, his 95% presence is too high to ignore. This is something we’ve spent a great deal of time working through how to address, understanding it will affect so many players and we want to maintain the identity of such a beloved operator while also encouraging greater pick diversity.

Our last change addressed his utility and while this was a change in the right direction, the data shows that his presence is still overwhelmingly high compared to other operators. Our next step is to look at the frag potential of his 416-C, which has been performing above average among ARs. By reducing ammo and increasing recoil, we believe this will require a greater degree of finesse from players to make the most of it. These changes help make the weapon less of a must-pick compared to other weapons and operators, while keeping it a strong weapon in a skillful player’s hand.

At the end of the day, though, we know that his denial utility is a huge part of what makes him such a draw—not just his loadout. We have potential tweaks for the ADS that we are considering for the future, but also understand this topic encompasses more than just Jäger. Balancing is an iterative process for any operator or weapon, so we will be closely monitoring how this affects everyone’s favorite ADS-wielder and will continue to tweak as necessary as we seek that sweet spot.

TACHANKA
  • Shumikha Launcher
    • Increased magazine capacity to 7 (was 5)
    • Increased fire duration to 7s (was 5s)
    • Reduced detonation time to 0.75s (from 1s)
    • Increased fire area radius to 1.9m (from 1.7m)
    • Increased projectile “distance to start drop” to 20m (was 8m)
    • Increased projectile speed to 30 (from 20
  • DP27
    • Reduced equip time to 0.65s (from 0.9s)
    • Reduced unequip time to 0.3s (from 0.42s)
    • Population targeted by this change: Casual, Top Ranked, Pro.

Initial feedback after Tachanka’s rework suggested that he would be too overpowered and game-breaking. However, the data now shows Tachanka with a low presence and low usage of grenades, causing his lethality to not be where we would like. We hope to see Tachanka viable in all levels of play, and as a good alternative or complement to Smoke to create new strategies based on area and time denial. We’ve increased the power, duration, radius, speed, and capacity for his grenades to make them more useful and lethal in combat. These changes should make them more deadly and useful in fights while also not feeling overpowering.

THERMITE
  • Replace claymore with smoke grenades
  • Population targeted by this change: Casual, Top Ranked, Pro.

We want to improve Thermite’s capability in a wider range of in-game scenarios. By giving him smoke grenades, we feel he will have more impact in late game execution, offering another avenue for providing utility, even after walls have been opened.

WEAPON BALANCING

DMR (ATTACKERS)
  • Removed access to 1.0x scopes
  • Gave access to 1.5x, 2.0x, and 2.5x sights
  • 3.0x as default option

Population targeted by this change: Casual, Top Ranked, Pro.

DMRs are designed to be effective in long range engagements. However, they are currently limited by only having a 3.0x for these fights, which is not comfortable in all maps or situations. We are adding more sight options for DMRs to give players more freedom in their options, while keeping the intended focus of the weapons in sight.

New Sykov Pistol Quietly Added To Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare

Players are still being surprised with new content in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Today, the new Sykov pistol was silently slipped into the game.

The new Sykov Pistol should be locked but viewable under the pistols section of your create-a-class. If you want to unlock the new Sykov Pistol for use in both Modern Warfare and Warzone, you simply need to complete a pistol challenge.

No Caption Provided

You must get four pistol kills in five different matches, so just choose your favorite unlocked pistol and hop into a match. You can choose to take the easy route, backing out of the match after you earn those four kills. Then it’s just rinse and repeat. You’ll still have your progress count, but if you’re like me, you might feel like a bad teammate for abandoning each match.

Once unlocked and leveled up, the Sykov has the potential to be a really powerful contender in both Modern Warfare and Warzone. The Sykov can be beefed up with an 80-round drum, and even be full-automatic with the option to also akimbo dual wield. This new gun could potentially shake up the current Warzone meta.

Developers Raven Software has tweeted that an issue was resolved in Warzone that was causing the Sykov pistol challenge to show but not track the player’s progression. Players should now be able to unlock the weapon as intended.

This new gun comes shortly after three maps were quietly introduced into Modern Warfare, but last week the developers announced the removal of two of the maps. Currently, the third added map, Killhouse, is still available to play.

This was a nice surprise for Modern Warfare fans, as Activision’s current focus remains on Black Ops: Cold War and Warzone. Call of Duty’s Season 2 is set to wrap up for Black Ops: Cold War and Warzone on April 21. A new teaser trailer was released today for the upcoming Season 3, and things are heating up in Verdansk.

Discover NVIDIA Reflex in Rainbow Six Siege

NVIDIA Reflex reduces latency and gives you the best system responsiveness — from the time the mouse is clicked to when the display updates. With lower latency you get the edge on opponents, and gameplay feels more responsive. Call Of Duty Mobile Season 3 With New Gun Teased With Cryptic Images

Activision has begun to tease the next season for Call of Duty: Mobile. Across a pair of tweets, the developer confirmed that a new pistol is coming to Call of Duty: Mobile in Season 3, while what looks like a new map is coming as well, based on the teaser.

CharlieIntel said the new pistol is the Renetti from Modern Warfare. The pistol is very powerful, as it can take down enemies with four body shots in Modern Warfare. It remains to be seen if it will be changed at all for CoD: Mobile, if it is indeed coming to the game.

As for the new map, you can check out the teaser image below and the flythrough video further down the page. It looks like a classic Call of Duty map, featuring interior and exterior lanes that can suit a number of different play styles.

Call of Duty: Mobile is currently in the midst of Season 2: Day of Reckoning, but based on these teasers, it appears Activision is going to mix things up and launch the new season relatively soon.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone are also currently in Season 2. The in-game timer suggests the season will end this month, and it could be a dramatic occasion for the game. The popular rumor is that Activision will blow up the map and re-launch the game with an ’80s theme based on Black Ops Cold War.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Quietly Loses Two Maps

Two of the three maps that were quietly added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare recently have now been removed from the 2019 game, and just like when they were added, there was little fanfare.

CharlieIntel reports that Infinity Ward has seemingly removed the Al-Raab Airbase and Drainage maps from the game. They were ever only playable in private matches as opposed to the public multiplayer playlists. However, both are now gone entirely. The third map that was added by surprise, Killhouse, remains available in Modern Warfare.

It’s also been revealed that a new Sparks Operator bundle popped up in the Modern Warfare in-game store recently; the DLC pack features a previously unreleased pistol.

The release of the new maps caught players by surprise, as developer Infinity Ward seemingly didn’t let players know they would be coming. Similarly, Infinity Ward has not commented on their removal, so it’s not clear what’s going on here.

Some portion of the Modern Warfare audience has complained that Activision is abandoning Modern Warfare, despite it still being connected to Warzone. The publisher is primarily focusing on Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, which are newer than Modern Warfare.

Season 2 for Black Ops Cold War and Warzone is going on now, and the games just added their sixth new weapon, an ultra-powerful sniper rifle. Season 2 is set to wrap up later in April, after which Season 3 will kick off with what could be some major changes.
