CoD Games Of Summer Begins Today In Warzone & Modern Warfare

Season 5 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone is ongoing, but a mid-season update released this week has introduced new content and set the stage for an event called the Games of Summer. You check out the full CoD patch notes for a look at what’s changed as part of the Season 5 Reloaded: Games of Summer update, but the next big component of it launches very soon, as the Games of Summer begin today, August 28, at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET.

The Games of Summer event, which runs from August 28 to September 7, adds five single-player trials all Modern Warfare and Warzone players can participate in. The trials allow players to compete against each other by representing their respective country, which is determined by the country of your account’s origination. These trials range from clearing out enemies while avoiding civilian targets to completing an obstacle course in the fastest time possible.

The players and countries with the most medals will receive an assortment of rewards, including vehicle skins, XP tokens, vehicle horns, calling cards, and Legendary weapon blueprints. Those who earn gold in each trial will also get the Legendary Assault Rifle Juliet Blueprint, a weapon built for “pure precision with a clear [that has a] non-magnified sight picture.” You can get a look at

Alongside the Juliet blueprint, the recent update added a new LMG to the mix. Acquired through the Mainframe bundle, the FiNN LMG is a lightweight machine gun with an open-bolt design that is both agile and lethal.

Elsewhere in the update, Warzone got a new mode called King Slayer. It’s a large-scale Team Deathmatch mode where the circle moves around the map instead of persistently collapsing during gameplay. The player with the highest score on the team is regarded as the “king” and whoever takes them out is rewarded with not only additional points but also a free Killstreak. Gunfight Tournament also makes a return to Warzone.

Modern Warfare also added a brand-new game mode with the start of the mid-season content update. Ground War Reinforce, a variant of the massive game mode, places three flags at the center of the map in a similar fashion to Domination. Whichever team claims all three flags in the mode wins the round.

Lastly, both Modern Warfare and Warzone received a new Operator. Sergio “Morte” Sulla, an Italian tracker who loves the Old West, is the newest recruit that can be acquired through an in-game bundle.

Infinity Ward shared a content roadmap that outlines everything coming to Modern Warfare and Warzone, which is embedded below.

A lot is coming to Modern Warfare and Warzone soon.
