CoD: Modern Warfare's Microtransaction Store Is Up–Here's What You Can Buy

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare‘s new Season One update is out now, and it’s added a significant amount of content for free on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. There’s a new map, called Crash, and Reinforce, a round-based mode in which players can only respawn when one of three flags is captured. But alongside what you can get for free, Infinity Ward has also introduced the game’s microtransaction store, which lets you buy digital bonuses for real-world money.

The in-game store offers up a number of microtransactions. If you head to the Store tab of the multiplayer menu, you’ll see you can buy all kinds of things, including Operator skins, charms, calling cards, stickers, and finishing moves. There are also new Blueprints available to purchase. As with Fortnite, these items are only available for a limited time.

These bits of in-game flair or only cosmetic, and can be purchased with Call of Duty Points. These are available in allotments from 200 Points ($2 USD) to 13,000 Points ($100 USD). Check out the images below to get a closer look at Modern Warfare’s microtransaction offerings.

Another form of microtransaction now available in Modern Warfare is the first Battle Pass, which costs 1,000 Call of Duty Points ($10 USD). All 100 tiers in the Battle Pass can be earned through gameplay (it’s estimated to take about 1 hour for each tier) or you can buy the Pass outright to unlock all the content right away. The tiers include all manner of different cosmetics and extras, along with two weapons. There is also a brand-new Operator, Mara, who is unlocked at Tier 100.

Modern Warfare launched on October 25, and up until this point there was no in-game store or Battle Pass.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Season One Update, Patch Notes Released

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has released its first season of live content on PC, PS4, and Xbox One with its first Battle Pass, as well as patch notes that cover all the changes that came along with the new content. A Battle Pass trailer also shows off some of the loot you can earn by purchasing it.

The patch notes include several of the new additions that came with the season, along with some general fixes and balance tweaks. In particular the .357 Buckshot has been nerfed, with a reduction to both damage range and hip fire damage. Several of the changes are targeted toward improving the PC experience, with changes to both KBM controls and PC shaders. You can check out the full patch notes below.

This is the first Battle Pass for Modern Warfare, which Infinity Ward is using in lieu of map packs that split the player base. The battle pass has free tiers for items that impact gameplay like new guns, but several more paid tiers include cosmetic items to earn. The battle pass costs 1,000 CoD Points (roughly $10).

Aside from the Battle Pass content, the patch adds a number of new maps (Port, Atrium, Cargo, and Crash), and two more maps (Vacant and Shipment) are coming during the season. It also adds Infected, Reinforce, and Gunfight OSP modes, while removing Gun Game, Shoot House 24/7, and 2v2 Gunfight Tournament modes from the playlist.

CAPITÃO 'RESPONSA': SEEING THE PRESENT

“I get it. Everyone’s just doing their best to survive. You shoot at me, though? Then it gets personal.”

Transcript dated 11/11. Edited for clarity.
Vincente: I’ve met people like you before. I got sent to a shrink after I lost my eye. You know what he wanted me to do? Visualization exercises. He wanted me to pretend that I still had both my eyes, to imagine the life I had before and “project it into the future.” You know what I said to him? “Cara, imagining I’ve still got both eyes isn’t going to get me back on the field. Can you help me or not?” He sent me to an occupational therapist and I never saw him again. So don’t ask me about how I’ve “adapted” or “grown”, or dig into my past to uncover the “real” impact of my trauma. I’m sick to death of talking about the first and only thing people notice about me.

Harry: Then let’s talk about something else.

Transcript ends.

“Kids always ask me how I got to be so strong. I tell them it comes from having something worth fighting for. When they grow up, they’ll understand.”

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare — See Footage Of The New Crash Map

One of the most iconic maps from 2007’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Crash, is being remade for the new Modern Warfare. Crash is coming to the new game in the Season One update on December 3, and now new gameplay footage from it has emerged online.

YouTuber Attach posted a video of the new map–and it looks pretty much exactly like it did back in 2007 except with better-looking graphics and one relatively small change to the map itself. There is a new back alley section of the map, but that appears to be the only notable addition.

Curiously, Attach said he was informed by Infinity Ward developers that he wasn’t allowed to use the attack chopper killstreak because it could cause the map to glitch. Here’s to hoping that has been sorted out for the public release this week.

Crash is just one of the maps coming to Modern Warfare in the Season One update. Some of the others include Vacant and Shipment, which were also fan-favorites in the original game. The Season One update also includes new modes, weapon blueprints, and more.

In addition to the Season One update, December 3 marks the start of Modern Warfare’s first Battle Pass. Just like with Fortnite, players will progress through tiers–of which there are 100–earning new cosmetic items and more on the way. Check out a breakdown of the Modern Warfare Battle Pass to learn more.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Battle Pass 1 Detailed: Price, Content, More

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is having a big week. The game’s massive Season One launches on December 3 alongside the introduction of the military shooter’s first Battle Pass. More details about the pass have now come to light thanks to YouTuber eColiEspresso, and it sounds like a substantial offering.

There are 100 tiers to unlock, 20+ of which are free for everyone. These tiers are unlocked by playing multiplayer or Spec Ops. Alternatively, players can spend 1,000 Call of Duty Points ($10 USD) to unlock additional tiers or all of them at once. It costs 150 Call of Duty Points ($1.50 USD) to unlock tiers one by one, which works out $150 USD to buy them all individually.

In terms of what’s in the tiers, they include things like operator skins, weapon XP, emblems, calling cards, weapon blueprints, and Call of Duty Points. The Battle Pass also includes two weapons, the Ram-7 assault rifle and the Holger-26 rifle. These are both available by tier 31, so the grind isn’t too extensive for players who don’t want to spend money to get them right away.

According to eColiEspresso’s conversations with Infinity Ward, it should take about one hour to unlock each tier, so about 100 hours to lock all the tiers in the Battle Pass. The two big ticket items–the weapons–are available by tier 31, so it should take around 30 hours to get them. As always, your mileage will vary depending on how you play and how much double XP you might have.

Check out the video below to see the Battle Pass in action and learn lots more about it.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Season One Free DLC Shown Off In New Trailer

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare expands in a major way this week with the release of the military shooter’s Season One of extra content. This includes new maps, weapons, modes, cosmetics, and more. Activision has now released a new trailer hyping it up, and it looks impressive.

Season One represents what Activision is calling the “biggest drop of free content in Call of Duty history.” There are a number of hotly anticipated inclusions such as a remake of the famous multiplayer map Crash. Check out the trailer below to see a glimpse of the new content.

The new Modern Warfare breaks from the series tradition of charging for post-release content with map packs and other extras. In Modern Warfare, all of this is free. The Season One launch on December 3 also marks the beginning of the game’s first Fortnite-style Battle Pass, which includes more than 100 tiers to progress through to unlock new cosmetic gear and more.

Activision has not shared monetization details yet, but it’s expected to work similarly to Fortnite where players can spend real money to speed up their progress through the tiers. Check back with GameSpot on December 3 to see a breakdown of the game’s microtransaction offerings.

You can see a rundown of what’s included in Modern Warfare Season One below, but note that not all of the content will be available at launch.

Modern Warfare Season 1 Free Content (written by Activision):

  • Crash (Multiplayer Map): The iconic Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare map has returned with all the flanking routes and action-packed rooftop encounters you remember.
  • Vacant (Multiplayer Map): An abandoned office, previously visited in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, leads to intense interior combat across the complex.
  • Shipment (Multiplayer and Gunfight Map): The classic Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare map where fast and frenetic action reigns supreme.
  • Port (Ground War Map): Battle across massive shipping crates, cranes, buildings and streets in this unique Ground War map experience.
  • Cargo (Gunfight Map): An open-roof storage vessel for shipping containers, on docks of London.
  • Atrium (Gunfight Map): The centerpiece of a Verdansk palace, still intact despite the conflict raging nearby.
  • Additional Maps: Look for additional multiplayer maps as Season 1 progresses.
  • Reinforce (Multiplayer Mode): A hybrid of Dom and S&D, a single-life mode with both teams competing for control of three flags.
  • On Site Procurement (O.S.P.) (Gunfight Mode): A tactically rich 2v2 mode with a twist: Begin with just your fists, and gather equipment as the match progresses.
  • Infected (Multiplayer Mode): It’s hunt or be hunted in this survival party game mode!
  • Additional Modes: Look for more modes as Season 1 continues.
  • Bomb Squad (Special Ops Experience): Forces still loyal to Barkov have planted explosives around the city of Al-Raab. You’re here to defuse the situation.
  • Grounded (Special Ops Experience): Enemies have seized Barkov’s former airbase. Engage and eliminate them.
  • Pitch Black (Special Ops Experience): Infiltrate Barkov’s former estate and recover all required intel before an exfill in a Tactical Rover.
  • Just Reward (Special Ops Experience): Your squad targets the head of an enemy financial operation, hacking his data centers, and gaining intel.
  • Additional Content: Look for more Special Ops content as Season 1 continues.

PS4 — $40

Modern Warfare received a score of 7/10 in our Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare review. GameSpot’s Kallie Plagge was disappointed by its lackluster Spec Ops mode but still enjoyed Modern Warfare’s exciting campaign and new multiplayer modes, including the 2v2 Gunfight mode.

“The pitfalls of Spec Ops don’t detract from what Modern Warfare does well, though,” she wrote. “Realism mode is an excellent addition to the slate, and although not all the new multiplayer modes are great, Gunfight and the Night Vision playlist are refreshing standouts. And while the campaign ends up playing it safe in the end, it’s still a memorable one, and it lays a strong foundation for where the Modern Warfare series could go from here.”
